DECEMBER 15TH. 2009 FLAMING GORGE ICE FISHING.
It's 5 degrees at 8:30 in the morning. Let's go stand on some ice and put our hands in the water to land fish.

Bambi's first winter coat

Bambi's dad and uncle buck
Notice all of the deer have a layer of frost on their backs.

After a 10 minute battle on a two foot ultra light rod, I get this one to the top of the ice.    20 inches 3 pounds. This size rainbow fights very hard. I am practicing for the ice fishing tourney coming soon, where's my yellow tape measure? I only had a cheezey little white one that doesn't count! Yes, it is only 100 feet from my truck. Tip over shelter in background was not needed today as it warmed up to around 30 degrees and no wind.

Here's a ling, 28 inches, about 5 1/2 pounds. Looks like anaconda skin. I am test fishing for the burbot bash coming in five weeks.  What a sow!

Hello Mr. Beady-eyes.  The fat one's are built like a battleship.

Ling are mostly head and guts as you can see.

Aaaak...

A nice pile of ling and rainbow as it gets near sundown

My fishing station, what a nice view!

I am happy to catch fish and spend a day in the solitude of nature as I commune
 with the fishes.

Good eats!  The ling are creepy just the same.

Headed for home with a bag of fish. The sled works very well.
All it lacks is a radio....why?  POLKA TIME on the ice!  You Bet-cha!

Stay tuned for more great ice fishing adventures.
